Politics & Religion – A Deadly Mixture!

Whilst the gullibility of this blinded nation is indeed beyond astonishment, it is to be lamentable how effortlessly our own minds are jolted about with articulately devised philosophical persuasions and viewpoints that are contrary to the truth. One such arena of mass corruption and deception is the present day political scene. It’s no surprise when those encaptivated by anti-Christianity, who have bowed the knee to Baal, {who indeed directs this present church state,} become enamored with this world’s political systems, but when I see any true follower of Christ turn aside in ways unbecoming a possession of grace, to dabble in political matters, which for many proud Americans are a religion in and of themselves, it necessarily strikes me with sheer wonderment!

The truth is that any true follower of the Lord Jesus Christ feels as a complete stranger and exile in this Babylonian Empire, {which is largely supported by a false form of Christianity, otherwise known as Spiritual Sodom and Egypt,} whose eminent danger arises from a world entrenched system of unified opposition to Christ, in its multiple manifestations of error, delusion, skepticism and infidelity. On the contrary, Christ said “my kingdom {system, order, or government} is not of this world.” Jn.18:36.

The sheer fact that Christ {as he walked amongst men} rejected an earthly kingdom, expressed no allegiance to its governmental system, never spoke a word against its abominable actions, {which was indeed one of the most oppressive and unjust governments the world has ever seen,} should be sufficient to convince us that all political entanglements of this present world order are not merely alien from, but hostile to God. Christ was in fact crucified by the state, {crucifixion, in the first century, was the form of execution reserved for political offenders and insurgents,} and this same State continues its relentless onslaught, as it tramples under its feet all sacred truth and all Biblical authority. “Why do the heathen rage, and the people imagine a vain thing? The kings of the earth set themselves, and the rulers take counsel together, against the LORD, and against his anointed, saying, let us break their bands asunder, and cast away their cords from us.” Psal.2:1-3. From a Biblical perspective, the nations of the earth are the enemies of Christ’s kingdom, those who reject Christ’s reign over them, Lk.19:27, whose destiny is to be subdued and destroyed, I Cor.15:25, with the breath of his mouth, and the brightness of his coming. II Thes.2:8.

Therefore, beware of those who muddle the identity of the Church with the identity of the State, or its society and culture, as true faith, {which has the crucifixion of Christ as its axis,} can never take a neutral attitude towards this worlds political platforms or Babel-systems. Why should it matter – to those who belong to Christ, and have been necessitated to flee from the wrath to come – who rules Babylon? Babylon will never change, it’s opposition to Christ remains paramount! As believers, {converted to the Biblical Gospel rooted in the Christ of Scripture,} our only obligation is submission, just as those in Nero’s day submitted to the Roman State, even as their taxes were being used for wicked deeds, evil policies, wars of conquest and pagan temples. It’s no different today! Whatever political, social or economic system the LORD has placed us under in his providential arrangements, he has done so with a scriptural mandate to honor the king, obey the law, lead quiet lives, &c., and to operate within the parameters of the state, as long as its policies do not cause us to act contrary to our life as believers in Christ; but to take part in attempting to fix a system that is pagan and hostile to Christ, and to help foster this alien concept of pride and citizenry that ‘Christian’ Nationalists and Self-Righteous Moralizers are so eager to promote bear not the marks of one separated unto the Gospel of Christ.

This marked separation from political entanglements becomes all the more imperative as it detracts from a believer’s primary battleground, which is the warfare necessitated by their own sinful inclinations to dishonour Christ, Jn.8:49, {bringing them under fear and condemnation – otherwise known as spiritual warfare, Eph.6:10-18, a believer’s daily struggle against sin, &c.,} a battle not fought with swords and guns, or political agendas in defense of men’s rights, possessions, liberties, &c., but a spiritual battle fought primarily within, Mk.7:21-23, in that battlefield known as our corrupt nature; in addition to their continual warfare against those that would corrupt the church by their false teachings, bringing in damnable heresies, II Pet.2:1, that is, errors in the fundamental doctrines of the Gospel, destroying {by the sword of the Spirit} both those that introduce and propagate them, and those that embrace and profess them.

Of course, other reasons abound as to why one should not participate in the political process, one of which is the plain fact that the Government of the United States is established upon the godless principles of secular humanism as evidenced by its own “Constitution.” A document built upon the premise that ultimate power rests with the people {“We the People”} and that all government power and authority derives from the consent of the people, which statement usurps the very throne of Christ himself. Plus, the deliberate and purposeful omission of God and Christ {neither the authority of the Father or the Son are acknowledged in the U.S. Constitution} from this document exhibits its fully secular and godless character, whereas the Lord rules in the midst of his enemies, and makes his people, {in the day of his power, Psal.110:2,3,} willing to succumb to his dictates and fall under his reign of grace. Rom.5:21. Let us not forget that “the kingdom is the LORD’S,” and that “he is the governor among the nations,” Psal.22:28; {and though the immediate reference may be to Christ’s Mediatorial Kingdom, the kingdom of grace, established in the hearts of his people, which was his by the designation and constitution of his Father from eternity;} yet, when we see constitutions and principles established that in every sense are in opposition to this Kingship of Christ, may we recognize our need to dissent and formulate our allegiance to Christ alone. The Lord says, “he that is not with me, is against me,” Matt.12:30, so may we not be blinded to the solemn realization that the people of this country have long ago voted Christ out of its Constitution!

Furthermore, let us recognize that both contestants; yeah all politicians ipso/facto hate the mystery of godliness, {which has no reference whatsoever to any tones of general morality or goodness, that is, I Tim.3:16, the message of salvation by grace via vicarious substitution,} is plainly evident by their rejection of all Scriptural Authority, and their universal aspirations to be “as god,” II Thes.2:4, Gen.3:5, in setting up man made religion {the essence of secular humanism/atheism} in the place of Gospel Revelation. Let us not delude ourselves in thinking that the ‘god’ of Christian America is somehow aligned with the God of Scripture. So-called Evangelicals are perpetuating incredible confusion and error by calling on an unbelieving nation to embrace “traditional values” that have no connection whatsoever with the redemptive work of Christ. In Scripture, ethical or moral calls to repentance are always deep-rooted in the Lord’s mighty redemptive acts, and so to speak as if general moral values should guide our Christ despising culture at large, without any reference to the redemptive work of Christ is completely absurd!

Additionally, the groundless premise that those who love Christ have some kind of spiritual duty to actively participate in political campaigns and the voting process lacks any Scriptural authority. Are those who follow Christ, somehow obligated to join hands with unbelievers, II Cor.6:14, as they attempt to embellish the political system in order to bolster their own self-righteous agenda, by elevating such as supposedly share their moral “values” into positions of authority? May we be made fearful of partaking of the sins of others by abetting them in these principles, or joining them in the propagation thereof, and thus giving them all the more reason to think that believers are in any regards one with them. “For he that biddeth him God speed is partaker of his evil deeds.” II Jn.1:11. The followers of Christ have no moral obligation whatsoever to choose the lesser of two evils. Evil is evil, and should of necessity be renounced and departed from.

Whilst being a “conservative” {a detestable term in my estimation, because it immediately links you with an apostate and degenerate form of ‘Christianity’} may convey a general sense of good versus evil, {the axis of the “liberal” party,} the sheer fact that most “conservatives” have no understanding {because it’s never been revealed to them, Matt.11:27} of the true Gospel {salvation conditioned on the work of Christ alone} makes all their conservatism an abominable act in the eyes of the LORD, Rom.8:8, and should make any true child of God fearful of making any alliances with them! Conservatism is a religious movement, in and of itself, and though the LORD will orchestrate their policies for the good of “them {the elect} who are the called according to his purpose,” Rom.8:28, yet, may we be continually reminded that this world is not our home, but that we are to live as sojourners, strangers and pilgrims, bearing witness to the Gospel of Christ, with no aspirations of attempting to fix or reform the State by our political aspirations. All such illicit entanglements run contrary to the Truth! A believer’s axiom is Christ! It is the pure revelation of Gospel truth! “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers, for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness, and what communion hath light with darkness? And what concord hath Christ with Belial, or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?” II Cor.6:14-15. May our allegiance be to the Kingdom of Christ, and our status that of pilgrims and exiles. Allegiance to one nation, is treason to the other. “No man can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other.” Matt.6:24. There is no neutrality in the cause of God & Truth!

Moreover, it would seem that those who have bowed down to the advocates of such a “nationalized gospel” actually believe that if their political aspirations fall short of ushering in the candidate of their choice, {by not participating in their voting process,} then man’s ‘perfect’ plan of white-washed morality and justice for all can somehow fall short of God’s intended accomplishments. The “purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will,” Eph.1:11, cannot be frustrated in the least, which includes the role world leaders play in the unfolding of his eternal purpose in Christ. It is the LORD who ordains the fall and rise of nations, be it Assyrian, Persian, Grecian, or Roman, {both Papal Rome and Pagan Rome;} just as it was the LORD who placed Pharaoh on his throne, and thereupon asserted that his purpose in doing so was that “I might show my power in thee, and that my name might be declared throughout all the earth,” Rom.9:17, that is, raised up by God in every sense, for God to display his perfect wisdom, power, and justice in his destruction, that he might be glorified. All the powers that be are by God’s Sovereign Ordination, and at his ultimate disposal.

Consolation abounds as we consider that the powers that be are all subservient to God’s purpose in this age, and that our system of Government {like all governments} is ordained to fulfill God’s purpose in the earth. In essence we have ONE GOVERNOR and ONE GOVERNMENT. “The kingdom is the Lord’s,” and Christ is the Governor of the nations. Psal.22:28. “And there was given him dominion, and glory, and a kingdom, that all people, nations, and languages, should serve him; his dominion is an everlasting dominion, which shall not pass away, and his kingdom that which shall not be destroyed.” Dan.7:14. Christ’s “kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and his dominion is from generation to generation.” Dan.4:3. “The Most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.” Dan.4:25. This is the only GOVERNMENT that ought to engage our attention!

Am I setting myself up as a standard of judgment or spiritual discernment in these matters? Far from it, my mental state of perception is often confusion; my experiences are nullified by my inability to separate that which is mere sentiment to any standard of so-called true Christian experience; my treacherous heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately flawed when a precise judgment is warranted; and as far as any personal moral virtues by which true darkness is recognized, evaluated and condemned, I’m immediately confounded; but when I attempt to digest or even begin to understand the views of those who call themselves by the name of Christ, and find myself so radically antithetical to almost everything they stand for and concern themselves with, I’m left with a grave dilemma! The contrast is so vast that it is frightful! What ‘god’ are we worshipping? Is the light which has measurably assured me of my position in Christ, mere darkness? Is that portion of ‘truth’ which has essentially alienated me from other ‘believers’ in Christ, just another lie in disguise? Does this present life which I now live in the flesh, lack that Divine impetus {namely the faith of Christ} whereby a believer overcomes the world? But when I am brought back to the Holy Scriptures of Truth, and therein enabled to behold the absolute fulness of grace and truth which resides in the Person of our Lord Jesus Christ as Sovereign Ruler of the Nations, reigning with absolute meticulous precision in the midst of his enemies, Psal.22:28, I am left with a holy awe and tenacious desire to grasp firm those principles of sacred truth which touch upon any aspect of Gospel Truth.

I’ll conclude with this paragraph extracted from the closing of the 1646 London Confession of Faith.

“Thus we desire to give unto Christ that which is his, and unto all lawful authority that which is their due, and to owe nothing to any man but love; to live quietly and peaceably, as it becometh saints, endeavoring in all things to keep a good conscience, and to do unto every man {of what judgment soever} as we would they should do unto us, that as our practice is, so it may prove us to be a conscionable, quiet, and harmless people {no ways dangerous or troublesome to human society,} and to labour and work with our hands, that we may not be chargeable to any, but to give to him that needeth, both friends and enemies, accounting it more excellent to give than to receive. Also we confess that we know but in part, and that we are ignorant of many things which we desire and seek to know; and if any shall do us that friendly part to show us from the Word of God that we see not, we shall have cause to be thankful to God and them. But if any man shall impose upon us anything that we see not to be commanded by our Lord Jesus Christ, we should, in his strength, rather embrace all reproaches and tortures of men, to be stripped of all outward comforts, and if it were possible, to die a thousand deaths, rather than to do anything against the least tittle of the truth of God, or against the light of our own consciences.”

Don’t even get me started on things like US Flags in Churches, Pledge of Allegiance, Religious Holidays, Israeli Support, Trade Unions, &c.
